Our trip to New Orleans is all booked!!! Flight and hotel and some additional attractions, like River Road Plantation Tour, Vampire Tour, Voodoo and Witchcraft Tour, Ghost Tours and other cool stuff like that.;) Wooohooo!!!!! We are so excited. Not least because it's all only about $650 per person. For a full week. Travelocity Rocks!!! We are going to take as much out of this trip as possible. I have already bought a big straw hat to ward off the cruel southern sun...

All of that of course means staying away from the internet for eight days, which right now sounds kinda scary... but I guess I'll survive somehow.;) The most arduous task to come back to will certainly be sorting through my Yahoo inbox, which might likely contain several hundred messages, or something close to that amount.;) So it's probably rather wise to put off joining MORE Yahoo!Groups until later, I guess...:D

In other news, I WANT the Viggorli fanzine. I want it badly, and I have no credit card. And I really don't feel like using my father's again, therefore assuming his identity and/or risking questions about the publication I am ordering.;) I want it for me, I want to pay for it and keep the whole business to myself, thank you very much. And I have read somewhere there was supposed to be an alternative form of payment available, but I keep checking the website every day and it still doesn't say anything about it. And I'm getting impatient.;) Even if I still have a lot of Anglican Doorway fics to catch up on. This is some kind of dangerous addiction for me, I'm afraid. It's simply not possible to ever have enough... *sigh*

It's official. I am going to New Orleans in August. After the 20th. For a full week at least. With a friend. We've been planning this trip for quite some time, but I didn't want to make any announcements until we both had our available vacation dates coordinated and confirmed...

Anyway. I am SO excited. New Orleans has been number one on my list of places to see in the States ever since I started reading Anne Rice about three years ago... And even if that literary fascination has faded a little, I am still very eager to explore that magical city. Plus, I REALLY need a vacation. I haven't had one for two years...

But here comes the funny bit. Guess where we'll be staying. My friend went online in search of some reasonably priced hotels wihin the city, and she sent me the link to her choice no.1. And I nearly had a major giggle fit when I saw it. Why? It seems to be the exact same building that was used as a visual of Orlando's New Orleans residence in The Archer by [livejournal.com profile] legomyarrow. Unless they are two different buildings that somehow look identical on a picture. I cannot prove that now, since the link to the pic on Amanda's page no longer seems to be there, but anyway... I love those little coincidences that inexplicably happen just to make you smile.;)

In other news, I went to see the Chicago Gay Pride Parade yesterday. There were plenty of pretty boys, as well as a bunch of rather impressive Dykes on Bikes.:) And other colorful attractions.;) I stood my ground for two hours, despite the nearly unbearable heat. I have to get used to it before the Louisiana trip, after all...

And one more thing: I seriously recommend a movie called My Summer of Love. It's by a Polish director (of whom I have never heard before, btw, and his last name escapes me somehow for the moment), but set in northern England, and starts with an accidental meeting of two lonely girls... And no, it's not a standard "lesbian movie" (not in the American sense, at least :P). It has other issues too, and an unforgettable summery atmosphere. Just beautiful. Sort of dark too, and very poetic. Reminded me a little of Heavenly Creatures...
