Here's a cute meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] taelyn_sass:

You Have a Hippie Soul

You are free as the wind, and you don't like following rules.

You're open minded and nonjudgemental. You just enjoy the journey of life.

You're neither a leader nor a follower. You're own your own blissful path.

You believe that people should love more and hate less. It's really that simple.

You Are a Green Crayon

Your world is colored in harmonious, peaceful, natural colors.

While some may associate green with money, you are one of the least materialistic people around.

Comfort is important to you. You like to feel as relaxed as possible - and you try to make others feel at ease.

You're very happy with who you are, and it certainly shows!

Your color wheel opposite is red. Every time you feel grounded, a red person does their best to shake you.

My favorite color is actually blue, but this result fits me pretty well. Except for the "very happy with who you are" part. Though I suppose I would be, if today's world were a less materialistic place. Then I would fit in a little better...

And yes, sometimes I need a "red" person to shake me when I am floundering in murky waters of deep indecision.;) I may not necessarily like it, since I often find "red" people (or fiery signs, in astrological terms) rather intimidating - but I do admit it can be effective...;P

Also, I have just finished creating a massive playlist for New Model Army and am currently downloading a black metal/darkwave band called Anathema. I seem to recall having heard one of their later albums several years ago, and liking the melancholy, ambient feel to it. There was nothing agressive about the music at all - at least not on that particular album. But now I have started sampling the tracks from the beginning... and some are quite hardcore, I have to say. And/or have pretty aggressive vocals. Which, unfortunately, puts me off. See, I have this love/hate relationship with metal - I am often mesmerised by the music, and go totally gaga over some richly structured instrumental pieces... but when a guy starts roaring like a wounded mythical beast, I am done. My problem is that I like singers who actually SING. Letting out a single scream/groan/roar every once in a while is perfectly fine - but if you do it constantly, it sort of ruins the fun for me (plus, it physically hurts to even think of someone destroying their vocal cords like that... LOL). Raw energy is one thing, but needless suffering is another.:P Unfortunately, a lot of metal songs have a gorgeous instrumental intro - which is all you hear during a 40-second sample on a download website - only to unleash the infernal shrieking later on. When you've already paid for the download, that is.:/

Well... luckily for me, my favorite mp3 website charges only $0.15 per track.:)

Btw, I was so wiped last night I actually went to bed ridiculously early, for a Friday. I slept like a log - until I woke up drenched in sweat, because they had cranked up the heating to a tropical level. Had to open the window so I could breathe. Then I had some uneasy dreams about the tiny Polish town where I grew up being all flooded - I was looking out of our balcony on the third floor, and the water was already reaching our downstairs neighbors... even though that entire part of town is, as I very well remember, situated on a hill. I have no idea where that dream came from. There haven't been any news about flooding in the area recently, or anything. Probably just my subconscious sending some cryptic gloomy messages that I am too lazy to decipher right now... lol.

Anyway... I'll shut up now. It's a pretty pointless post, after all.

ETA: Just a little revision abour Anathema. Only the first 2-3 albums qualify as "metal". The rest of it is all delicious, moody, evocative darkwave rock, extremely gentle at times, powerful and richly flowing at others. The album Alternative 4 from 1998 is simply incredible. I am SO GLAD I just randomly decided to check them out. I am not finished with the entire discography yet, but I can tell I'm gonna get addicted to this band pretty quickly. The emotional quality of the music is absolutely hypnotic...

Heheh. I played around with it a bit, and found out it took changing only one answer for the result to switch from Hippie to Goth. I suppose I am a bit of both... but the Hippie result was closer to my heart.:)

I also have a Hippie soul, according to that meme.

Gosh! It's been really a long time since I've done memes like that;)

In the other one somehow I'm an orange Crayon, dominant and leader personality which is totally untrue!

Talking about Anathema - in the past I had a goth phase in which I listened to lots of melancholic and melodic stuff. Anathema was one of my favourite bands, and, strangelt enough, I listened to their one album only - Judgement. I wan never a fan of black metal but that CD was different, with such pearls such as Parisienne Moonlight:)

My goth phase never ended.;)

Yes, Judgement is one of the better albums; Alternative 4 is similar, just more melancholy. Pretty much all the later albums are very gentle/atmospheric and don't sound like "metal" at all. If you liked Judgement, you would probably like most of their music. And you can listen to a lot of it for free on YouTube.:)
